Was brig. major and assist. adjut. general of Highland division during Crimean campaign of 1854–5; present at Alma, Balaklava, Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol. For these services was nominated a companion of the Bath, and an officer of the Legion of Honor, and decorated with Crimean and Turkish medals, and 4th class of order of Medjidie; placed on half pay, Nov. 1855.
