NICKNAMES, &C.--The old 26th (1st Batt.) was familiarly known as "The Scots," _circa_ 1762; while the late 90th, when raised, was dubbed "The Perthshire Grey-breeks" (from the colour of their breeches). NOTES.--The 1st Batt. of The Cameronians trace a direct descent from the old "Cameronian Guard" of the "Lords of Convention," the name itself being derived from Richard Cameron, a famous preacher.
