32. And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Beth-el, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Beth-el, the priests of the high places which he had made. 33. So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Beth-el the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense. 5. IMAGES NOT TO BE WORSHIPED, _though enjoined by human authority_. DAN. III, 18. THREATENINGS AGAINST IDOLATERS. ISAIAH II, 8. Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made: 9. And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not. ISAIAH XXVII, 11. When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off: the women come, and set them on fire: for it is a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them, and he that formed them will shew them no favor. ISAIAH II, 20. In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats. ISAIAH XIX, 3. And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof; and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards. ZEPH. I, 3.
