PROV. XXV, 18. A man that beareth false witness against his neighbor is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow. 2. LYING IS FORBIDDEN. LEV. XIX, 11. He that speaketh truth, sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit. 18. There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health. 19. The lip of truth shall be established forever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment. 20. Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counselors of peace is joy. JOB XXVII, 4. My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit. JOHN VIII, 44. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do: he was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. PROV. X, 18. He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool. PROV. XII, 13.
