6. TO BE BENEVOLENT. JOB XXIX, 12. Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him. 13. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. ACTS XX, 35. I have showed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. 2 COR. VIII, 7. Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also. GAL. VI, 9. And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him. 10. Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. HEB. XIII, 16. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. 1 TIM. VI, 17. Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18. That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 19. Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 7. LIBERALITY REWARDED. PSALM XXXVII, 3. Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. PSALM XXXVII, 25. I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. 26. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. PSALM CXII, 5. A good man showeth favor, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. 6. Surely he shall not be moved forever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.
