18. And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it; I pray thee have me excused. 19. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them; I pray thee have me excused. 20. And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I can not come. 4. REPENTANCE DEMANDED. LUKE XIII, 3. I tell you, nay: except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. MARK VI, 12. And they went out, and preached that men should repent. ACTS II, 38. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. ACTS III, 19. Repent ye, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. ACTS VIII, 22. For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord God: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye. 5. REPENTANCE INCLUDES SORROW FOR SIN, AND CONFESSION. PSALM XXXVIII, 4. For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me. 5. My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness. 6. I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long. 7. For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease; and there is no soundness in my flesh.
