ISAIAH LXVI, 2. For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. HOSEA VI, 1. Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. 2. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. 22. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: 23. And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry. 7. REPENTANCE INCLUDES REFORMATION. EZRA IX, 6. And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens. JOB XIII, 23. How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin. PSALM XXXVIII, 18. For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin. DEUT. X, 16. Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiff-necked. JOB XXXIV, 32. That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more. ISAIAH I, 16. Wash ye, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil: 17. Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. JER. VII, 3. Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. JER. VII, 5. For if ye thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbor. MATT. III, 8. Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance.
