PROV. I, 22. How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? PROV. I, 29. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. (3.) _The affections are corrupt._ EPH. II, 3. For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revelings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: 4. Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you. JER. II, 22. For though thou wash thee with niter, and take thee much soap, yet thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord God. JER. XVII, 9. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? EPH. IV, 19. Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. ROM. VIII, 7. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. JER. V, 23.
