22. Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. EPH. I, 13. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the Gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. EPH. IV, 30. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 2 TIM. II, 19. Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. LUKE XII, 11. And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: 12. For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say. JOHN XVI, 7. Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. JOHN XVI, 13. Howbeit, when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. ROM. V, 5. And hope maketh not ashamed: because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts, by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. 1 JOHN V, 20. And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true; and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. (7.) _Sanctification._ COL. III, 9. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds. EPH. IV, 22. That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts: 23. And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24. And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. ROM. VI, 4. Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. JOHN XVII, 17. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. COL. I, 12. Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light. 1 THESS. IV, 3. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication. 1 THESS. V, 23. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit, and soul, and body, be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. LEV. XX, 8. And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the Lord which sanctify you.
