But it did not go very far, containing as it does, not a selection, but only such books as the author happened to possess at that time. It is, in fact, an abridgment of Stevens' _Historical Nuggets_, although the latter was not published till 1862. It is one of the most carefully prepared auction catalogues ever issued.
