DIRECTIONS FOR USING STANDARD TEST EUCALYPTUS OIL.
=INFLUENZA.=—Great relief is given by half filling a quart jug with
hot water and placing on the top of the water half a tablespoonful
of Eucalyptus Oil; a cloth should cover the head—breathe the
vapour. Also, a drop of the Oil rubbed in each nostril gives much
relief.
=FOR RHEUMATISM, LUMBAGO, SCIATICA, STIFFNESS OF THE JOINTS.=—Rub
the Oil _well_ into the affected parts frequently, take warm
Eucalyptus baths, and vegetable pills twice a week.
=IN OBSTINATE OR CHRONIC CASES OF RHEUMATISM,= besides being well
rubbed into the affected parts, it should be sprinkled on a damp
cloth, and left until a warmth is produced over the skin; this
should be repeated daily, if not entirely relieved by the first
application.
=LIVER COMPLAINTS.=—The Oil should be well rubbed over the region
of the Liver every night, or apply the damp cloth, as in Chronic
Rheumatism, and take good vegetable pills twice a week.
=WHOOPING COUGH, CROUP, SORE THROAT, INFLUENZA, ASTHMA, AND ALL
BRONCHIAL AFFECTIONS.=—To be well rubbed in twice a day between the
shoulders, and over the throat and chest. For young children, mix
in equal parts the Oil and sweet oil before rubbing in, to avoid
irritation of the tender skin. Three to five drops on a little
sugar should be taken every hour till relief is obtained.
=CONSUMPTION, ASTHMA, BRONCHITIS.=—Put a little water in a kettle,
let it boil, then put a dessertspoonful of the Oil into the kettle
and put the cover on firmly and closely. Convey the steam, by means
of a rubber pipe, into the sick room. The patient, on strongly
inhaling the vapour for 10 or 15 minutes, will experience great
relief. This should be done three times a day. Four or five drops
taken on castor sugar two or three times a day will also give much
relief.
=DIPHTHERIA.=—Same directions as for consumption, unless a spray
producer is available, when it is better to spray the Oil on the
affected parts. A little Oil may be painted over the white patches,
and give internally three drops every hour. Sprinkle the Oil about
the bed and room to prevent infection.
=COLIC PAINS IN THE STOMACH OR BOWELS.=—Apply the Oil freely
sprinkled over a cloth previously rinsed in hot water. It is
recommended in adult cases to take six to ten drops internally on
castor sugar.
=CHILBLAINS, SPRAINS, STRAINS, BRUISES.=—Rub the Oil well into
the affected parts two or three times a day. It subdues the pain,
and, if applied in time, prevents discoloration of the skin, and
speedily effects a cure.
=CROUP, INFLAMMATION OF THE LUNGS.=—Same directions as for
Consumption, only more often.
=TYPHOID FEVER.=—Give two to five drops on sugar or in a little
milk every three hours. Hot packs once or twice a day, like those
recommended for Scarlet Fever, will greatly assist, and produce
sleep. Sprinkle about the room as a disinfectant.
