HEATH, with beardless tips without the blossom, and very long; blossom club-shaped, turned inwards, and of a deep orange colour; flowers terminate the branches; cup double; leaves by threes, and crowded; stem short and shrubby. DESCRIPTION. STEM upright, sturdy, low, and very branching; the smaller branches are whorled. LEAVES by threes, linear, bowed, and crowded together; nearly three-sided, smooth, and sharp-pointed. FLOWERS grow by twos at the ends of the small branches, hanging down; the footstalks are short and naked. EMPALEMENT. Cup double; the outer one is three-leaved; the leaflets egg-shaped and skinny, tiled, and pressed to the cup; the inner one is four-leaved, with larger leaflets. BLOSSOM club-shaped, turned inwards, wrinkled, and of a deep orange colour; the segments of the border are upright, and turned inwards. CHIVES. Eight linear, flat threads; tips beardless, without the blossom, very long, and tapered into threads. POINTAL. Seed-bud turban-shaped. Shaft thread-shaped, a little longer than the chives.
