Nearly insoluble in water; soluble in alcohol. ACTION AND USES: Flavoring agent =*Oleum Lini (Ol. Lini), Linseed Oil, U.S.P.= (Oil of Flaxseed, Raw Linseed Oil).--A fixed oil. ACTION AND USES: Internally, laxative; its disagreeable taste and odor have made it unpopular. Externally, protective emollient, especially as Linimentum Calcis (which see under Calx) in burns.
