FIRST SECTION.--GENERAL PRINCIPLES. _Lectures_ 1 and 2.--Short account of the general principles which serve as a base for the application of mechanics to machines, under the compound ratio of their establishment and of the calculation of their effects. _Lecture_ 3.--General composition of a factory; power, recipient, transmission of movement, tools. General method of calculating the effect of forces in a complete factory. _Lectures_ 4, 5, and 6.--Theoretical rules and the results of experiments concerning the flow of liquids.
