This number contains on pages 480-1 "A PREFACE TO 'DORIAN GRAY,'" consisting of 23 aphorisms and epigrams. In the novel, as it appeared in book form in the following July, another, the 13th, was added making 24 in all. It is as follows: _No artist is ever morbid. The artist can express everything._ In the 15th paragraph the author altered his words, _his art_ to _an art_, and in the 16th paragraph the words _form_ and _feeling_ are no longer spelt with capital initial letters. The last word in the 23rd paragraph is changed from _inordinately_ to _intensely_. The Preface as revised appears in all editions of the book, which contain twenty chapters. II. i.
