He then reads: The Secret Prayers. Sanctify, we beseech Thee, O Lord Our God, by the invocation of Thy holy name, the victim of this oblation; and by it make us ourselves an eternal offering to Thee. Through, etc. Graciously hear us, O God Our Saviour, that by the virtue of this sacrament Thou mayest defend us from all enemies, of both soul and body; grant us grace in this life and glory in the next.
