The bequests of Mr. Harris and Mr. Sawyer were supplemented by $50,000 from the city. The Harris bequest of $75,000 was made in 1895 by Mrs. Abby S. Harris, to carry out the intentions of her husband. It was made on condition that within three years an equal amount should be raised for the same purpose. The bequest of $25,000 by Hon.
