They produce FAITH.* SO then *faith cometh* by hearing, *and hearing by the word of God*. _Romans 10:17._ *2nd. They induce Spiritual GROWTH.* AS new born babes, *desire the sincere milk of the word*, that ye may *grow thereby*. _I Peter 2:2._ *3rd. They BUILD us up.* AND now, brethren, I commend you to God, *and to the word of his grace*, which is *able to build you up*. _Acts 20:32._ *4th. They DISCERN our hearts.* THE word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is *a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart*. _Hebrews 4:12._ *5th. They keep us FROM SINNING.* THY *word* have I *hid in mine heart, that I might not sin* against thee. _Psalms 119:11._ *6th. They become one’s WEAPON.* AND take the helmet of salvation, and the *sword* of the Spirit, *which is the word of God*. _Ephesians 6:17._
