The disciples were themselves Jews, and the above is not the language of a Jew speaking of his own people, but of a foreigner. 159 Where was he when he dined with publicans and sinners? Mark: At his own house. "As Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples" (ii. 15). Luke: At the house of Levi.
