Disciples of Christ -- Hymns; Hymns, English
Happy the saints whose lot is cast
Where oft is heard the gospel sound;
The word is pleasing to their taste,
A healing balm for every wound.
2 With joy they hasten to the place
Where they their Saviour oft have met;
And while they feast upon his grace,
Their burdens and their griefs forget.
3 This favored lot, my friends, is ours;
May we the privilege improve,
And find these consecrated hours
Sweet earnests of the joys above.
720 L. M.
A parting hymn.
Come, Christian brethren, ere we part,
Join every voice and every heart;
One solemn hymn to God we raise,
One final song of grateful praise.
2 Christians, we here may meet no more;
But there is yet a happier shore;
And there, released from toil and pain,
Dear brethren, we shall meet again.
721 L. M.
Bid us all depart in peace.
Dismiss us with thy blessing, Lord;
Help us to feed upon thy word;
All that has been amiss, forgive,
And let thy truth within us live.
2 Though we are guilty, thou art good;
Cleanse all our sins in Jesus’ blood;
Give every burdened soul release,
And bid us all depart in peace.
722 L. M.
I will not forget thy word.
Psalm 119:16.
Lord, how delightful ’tis to see
A whole assembly worship thee,
At once they sing, at once they pray!
They hear of heaven, and learn the way.
2 O write upon my memory, Lord,
The text and doctrine of thy word;
That I may break thy laws no more,
But love thee better than before.
723 L. M. D.
Striving together for the faith, etc.
Phil. 1:27.
Lord, cause thy face on us to shine;
Give us thy peace, and seal us thine;
Teach us to prize the means of grace,
And love thine earthly dwelling-place,
One is our faith, and one our Lord;
One body, spirit, hope, reward:
May we in one communion be,
One with each other, one with thee.
2 Bless all whose voice salvation brings,
Who minister in holy things;
Our pastors, rulers, deacons, bless;
Clothe them with zeal and righteousness:
Let many in the judgment day,
Turned from the error of their way,
Their hope, their joy, their crown, appear:
Save those who preach, and those who hear.
724 L. M.
Lord, now we part in thy blest name.
Lord, now we part in thy blest name,
In which we here together came;
Grant us our few remaining days,
To work thy will and spread thy praise.
