dead." 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he
arose. 28 And when he had come into the house, his disciples asked him
privately, "Why could we not cast it out?" 29 And he said to them,
"This kind can only come out by prayer."
LK 9:28-43a
28 Now about eight days after these sayings, he took with him
Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. 29 And
as he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his robe
became white and glistening. 30 And behold, two men talked with him,
Moses and Elijah, 31 who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure,
which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32 But Peter and those
with him were heavy with sleep; and when they were fully awake, they
saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. 33 As the men were
parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be
here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for you, one for Moses,
and one for Elijah"-not knowing what he said. 34 While he was saying
this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were afraid as they
entered the cloud. 35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This
is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!" 36 When the voice had spoken,
Jesus was found alone. But they kept quiet, and told no one in those
days any of the things they had seen.
37 On the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a
great crowd met him. 38 And behold, a man from the crowd cried out,
"Teacher, I beg you to look upon my son, for he is my only child. 39
And behold, a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out; it
convulses him so that he foams at the mouth, and will hardly leave him,
bruising him. 40 I begged your disciples to cast it out, but they could
not." 41 Then Jesus answered, "O faithless and perverse generation, how
long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here." 42
While he was coming, the demon threw him and convulsed him. But Jesus
rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him back to
his father. 43 And they were all amazed at the majesty of God.
62.10 Jesus a Second Time Predicts His Death and Resurrection
MT 17:22-23
22 Now while they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them,
"The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, 23 and
they will
kill him, and he will be raised on the third day." And they were
greatly distressed.
MK 9:30-32
30 Then they departed from there and passed through Galilee, and
he did not want anyone to know it. 31 For he was teaching his disciples
and said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the
hands of men. They will kill him, and when he is killed, after three
days he will rise." 32 But they did not understand the saying, and they
were afraid to ask him.
