27 Some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him, 28 and they questioned him, "Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies, having a wife but no children, the man must take the wife and raise up children for his brother. 29 Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died without children. 30 And the second 31 and then the third took her, and in the same way the seven died, and they left no children. 32 Finally the woman died also. 33 In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will she be? For all seven had her as wife." 34 And Jesus said to them, "The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage. 35 But those who are considered worthy to attain that age and the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, 36 nor can they die any more, for they are equal to the angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. 37 But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord 'the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.' 38 Now he is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to him." 39 And some of the scribes answered, "Teacher, you have spoken well." 40 For they no longer dared to ask him any question. 88.10 The Two Greatest Commandments MT 22:34-40 34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. 35 And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, to test him. 36 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." MK 12:28-34 28 And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he had answered them well, asked him, "Which commandment is the first of all?" 29 Jesus answered, "The first is: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." 32 And the scribe said to him, "You are right, Teacher; you have well said that God is one, and there is no other but he; 33 and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices." 34 And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God."
