Bible. Gospels -- Harmonies, English
26 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of
Olives.
27 And Jesus said to them, "You will all fall away; for it is
written:
'I will strike the shepherd,
and the sheep will be scattered.'
28 But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee." 29
Peter said to him, "Even if all fall away, I will not." 30 Jesus said
to him, "Truly, I say to you that this very night, before the rooster
crows twice, you will deny me three times." 31 But he spoke more
vehemently, "If I have to die with you, I will not deny you!" And they
all said the same.
96.20 The Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane
MT 26:36-46
36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called
Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and
pray." 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and
he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, "My
soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with
me." 39 And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, "O
my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless,
not as I will, but as you will." 40 Then he came to the disciples and
found them sleeping; and he said to Peter, "So, could you not watch
with me one hour? 41 Watch and pray, so that you will not enter into
temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." 42
Again, a second time, he went away and prayed, "O my Father, if this
cup cannot pass away unless I drink it, your will be done." 43 And
again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44 So
he left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the
same words. 45 Then he came to the disciples and said to them, "Are you
still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of
Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us be
going; see, my betrayer is at hand."
