The New Testament of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.: The common English version, corrected by the final committee of the American Bible Union.
Bible. New Testament
(30)I will no longer talk much with you; for the prince of the world
comes, and in me he has nothing. (31)But that the world may know that
I love the Father, and as the Father gave me commandment, so I do.
Arise, let us go hence.
XV.
I AM the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. (2)Every branch
in me that bears not fruit, he takes it away; and every one that bears
fruit, he cleanses it, that it may bear more fruit. (3)Ye are already
clean, through the word which I have spoken to you.
(4)Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch can not bear fruit of
itself, if it abide not in the vine, so neither can ye, if ye abide
not in me. (5)I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abides in me
and I in him, the same bears much fruit; because without me ye can do
nothing. (6)If any one abide not in me, he is cast forth as the
branch, and is withered; and they gather them, and cast them into the
fire, and they are burned. (7)If ye abide in me, and my words abide in
you, ask whatever ye will, and it shall be done to you.
(8)Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; and ye
shall become my disciples. (9)As the Father loved me, I also loved
you; abide in my love. (10)If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide
in my love; as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his
love.
(11)These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and
your joy be made full. (12)This is my commandment, that ye love one
another, as I loved you. (13)Greater love has no one than this, that
one lay down his life for his friends. (14)Ye are my friends, if ye do
whatever I command you.
(15)No longer do I call you servants; because the servant knows not
what his lord does. But I have called you friends because all things
that I heard from my Father I made known to you. (16)Ye did not choose
me, but I chose you, and appointed you that ye may go and bear fruit,
and that your fruit may remain; that whatever ye shall ask of the
Father in my name, he may give it you.
(17)These things I command you, that ye love one another. (18)If the
world hates you, ye know that it has hated me before it hated you.
(19)If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because
ye are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, for this
the world hates you. (20)Remember the word that I said to you: A
servant is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted me, they will
also persecute you; if they kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
(21)But all these things they will do to you for my name's sake,
because they know not him who sent me.
