4 [12:22]And he said to his disciples, I tell you, therefore, be not anxious for your soul what you shall eat, nor for the body what you shall put on. [12:23]Is not the soul more than the food, and the body than the clothing? [12:24]Consider the ravens; for they neither sow nor reap, and they have no private room, no storehouse; and God feeds them. How much are you better than the birds! [12:25]And which of you can add a cubit to his stature? [12:26]And if you cannot do the least, why are you anxious for the rest? [12:27]Consider the lilies; how they neither spin nor weave; but I tell you that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of them. [12:28]And if God so clothes the grass in the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, men of little faith? [12:29]And seek not what you shall eat, and what you shall drink, and be not of a doubtful mind; [12:30]for all these things do the nations of the world seek; and your Father knows that you need them. [12:31]But seek his kingdom, and these shall be added to you. [12:32]Fear not, little flock, for your Father is well pleased to give you the kingdom. [12:33]Sell your property and bestow charity; make yourselves purses that become not old, and a treasury that fails not, in heaven, where no thief approaches, nor moth destroys; [12:34]for where your treasury is, there will your heart be also. 5 [12:35]Stand with your loins girded, and your candles lighted, [12:36]and be like men waiting for the coming of their lord, when he shall return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately. [12:37] Blessed are those servants whom their lord when he comes shall find watching. I tell you truly, that he will gird himself, and cause them to recline, and he will come and wait upon them. [12:38]And if he comes in the second watch, and comes in the third watch, and finds them thus, blessed are they. [12:39]But know this, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief comes, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. [12:40]Be you also ready; for in an hour when you think not the Son of man comes.
