From a large black spot on his upper lip he was familiarly called, Mac Shimidh Ball-dubh, _i.e._, black-spotted Simpson or Lovat. Three chieftains were distinguished at this time by similar deformities—(1) Mac Coinnich Glùn-dubh, _i.e._, black-kneed Mackenzie; (2) Macintoshich Claon, _i.e._, squint-eyed MacKintosh; (3) Sisealach Càm, crooked or one-eyed Chisholm.” [4] See Nos.
