It bears the motto “Celer et Audax” which was given to it by General Wolfe for its conduct at the siege of Quebec, 1759. It appears to have worn no facings from 1814 to 1824. In 1797 it received a fifth Battalion, which was dressed in green and called “The Rifle Battalion” from being armed with Rifles. The first Regiment numbered the 60th was raised in 1755, and is now the 58th Rutlandshire.
