It bears “The Castle of Edinburgh,” with the motto “Nisi Dominus frustra”; also “The King’s Crest,” with motto “In veritate religionis confido”; also “The White Horse” with “Nec aspera terrent”; and “The Sphinx” for Egypt, 1801. It captured two stand of Colours at the battle of Val, 1847. It is said its facings once were Orange, if so it was before 1742. It is commonly known as “The K. O. Bs.” TWENTY-SIXTH FOOT.
