He turned away from her and crossed the room slowly, waiting to close
the door after the expressmen stoically carrying down his remaining
trunk. He felt, in that last minute, as he passed out, that she was
richer by an indeterminate something that he himself had lost, although
the sound of her broken sobbing crept out to him through even the closed
door.
