Lambert’s brigade only reached Waterloo by a forced march just as the battle was commencing. Several captains of the 1st Batt. 4th Foot had been killed in the attack on New Orleans—hence the small number of captains present at Waterloo. Siborne gives the names of six additional captains as present with this regt. at Waterloo, but as the official _Army List_ for 1817 does not credit them with having the Waterloo medal, the Editor has been reluctantly compelled to omit their names.
