To this end we have devoted the forenoon to ransacking the shops of the silversmiths, who chiefly traffic in such wares, for amulets, and stones of divers virtues; and, assuredly, if there be aught in ‘mystic cabala and spells,’ we may consider ourselves secure from evil.
