Ahmad Ki Basharat: Q 61:6 and the Paraclete
The Qur'an says Jesus foretold a messenger after him "whose name is Ahmad." Muslim tradition reads this as the Paraclete prophecy of the Gospel of John; the Christian tradition reads the Paraclete as the Holy Spirit fulfilled at Pentecost. We open both sets of books — Q 61:6, John 14-16, Ibn Ishaq, the Greek text, and the manuscript record — and set them side by side. The verdict, as always, is yours.

One Name, Two Scriptures
Near the end of the Gospel of John, on the night before his crucifixion, Jesus comforts his disciples with a promise. He is going away, he tells them, but they will not be left alone. Another will come — one he calls, in Greek, the Paraklētos.
Six centuries later, a verse of the Qur'an places a promise in the mouth of the same Jesus, son of Mary. He announces a messenger who will come after him, and he gives that messenger a name: Ahmad.
