Christianity
Christianity is the world's largest religion, founded in 1st-century Roman Judea on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, whom Christians hold to be the Son of God and the promised Messiah.
Its scripture, the Bible, joins the Hebrew Old Testament with the New Testament — the four Gospels, the letters of the apostles, and the Revelation. Central beliefs include the incarnation, the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ, and salvation by grace.
From a small movement in Jerusalem, Christianity grew through the Roman Empire and later divided into the Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant traditions that today span the globe.
