By far the most perfect and valuable of all the numerous works which have been published in this Department of Bibliography, being the results of thirty years of diligent labor and research. The author was private Librarian to the Emperor Napoleon, and afterwards, on the return of the Bourbons, Superintendent of the private Royal Libraries. He died in 1825. His Dictionary is confined to works in the Latin and French languages, but of these it notices between twenty-three and twenty-four thousand. The first edition is, _Paris_, 1806-9. 4 vols., 8vo.
