96. Now go, and smite Amalek, _and utterly destroy all that they have_,
and spare them not; but slay both _man and woman, infant and suckling_,

of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are
thrown down by the mounts, and by the sword, "They come to fight with
the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men,
whom _I have slain in mine anger and in my fury_, and for all whose
wickedness I have hid my face from this city." Jer. xxxii. 4; 5.
103. And he hath _violently_ taken away his tabernacle as if it were of
a garden; he hath destroyed his places of the assembly; the Lord hath
caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and hath
despised _in the indignation of his anger_ the king and the _priest_.

104. The young and the old lie on the ground in the streets: my virgins
and my young men are fallen by the sword; _thou hast slain them in the
day of thine anger; thou hast killed, and not pitied_. Lam. of Jer, ii.

105. Therefore _the fathers shall eat the sons_ in the midst of thee,
and the _sons shall eat their fathers_; and I will execute judgments in
thee, and the whole remnant of thee will I scatter into all the winds.
"Wherefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, surely because thou hast
defiled my sanctuary with all thy detestable things, and with all thine
abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee, _neither shall mine
eye spare, neither will 1 have any pity._." Ezek. v. 10, 11.
106. So the Lord sent _pestilence_ upon Israel; and there fell of Israel
_seventy thousand men_. 1st. Chron. xxi. 14.
