| | |Of 15 to 20 churches and _conventos_ in
| | |Iloilo Province only two or three remained
| | |standing; in the two other provinces,
| | |Capiz and Antique, the destruction was
| | |less universal. Even the thick walls of
| | |the fort at Iloilo were breached in many
| | |places. There were subsidences in the
| | |plains and landslides in the mountains and
| | |mighty fissures opened. It is stated that
| | |the victims were numerous: in one building
