HEATH, with crested tips, within the blossom. Leaves by threes. Branches thread-shaped. The flowers grow by threes, are small, pitcher-shaped, and of a deep flesh colour. The leaves of the cup are longer than the flower. DESCRIPTION. STEM thread-shaped, a span high, between erect and spreading, and very much branched. LEAVES by threes, lance-shaped, furrowed beneath, flat on the upper surface, smooth, and pressed to the branches. FLOWERS grow by threes, and terminate the smaller branches. The footstalks are flesh-coloured, and furnished with three small coloured floral leaves. EMPALEMENT. Cup four-leaved; the leaflets are spathula-shaped, flesh-coloured, and longer than the blossom. BLOSSOM very small, pitcher-shaped, of a deep flesh-colour, and pale at the base; the segments of the border spreading. CHIVES. Eight hair-like threads; tips crested, and within the blossom. POINTAL. Seed-bud turban-shaped. Shaft within the blossom, and thread-shaped. Summit four-angled, and rolled back. Native of the Cape of Good Hope. Flowers from the month of July till October. REFERENCE. 1.
