FLOWERS headed, terminal, cernuous; peduncles coloured, furnished with three floral leaves also coloured, and a many-leaved involucrum; with its little leaves ovate, acute, deep rose-coloured, with green points. EMPALEMENT four-leaved, with the leaflets egg-shaped, acute, concave, and of a deep rose-colour. BLOSSOM bellied below, contracted above, flesh-coloured at the base, with a green mouth, with four obtuse, half-ovate segments. CHIVES eight, hair-like; tips crested, within the blossom. POINTAL. Blossom bell-shaped and white. Leaves by threes. Stem upright, and bushy. DESCRIPTIO. STEM shrubby, upright, a foot high. The large and small branches are numerous, erect, and spreading. LEAVES by threes, three-sided, thick, rigid, rolled back, pointed and smooth, flat on their upper surface and channelled beneath; with minutely fringed edges. FLOWERS terminate the smaller branches, mostly by threes. Footstalks white, and furnished with three floral leaves emarginated with black hairs. EMPALEMENT four-leaved. Leaflets are ovate, white, pressed to the blossom, and emarginated with black hairs. BLOSSOM bell-shaped and white: the segments of the border are equal, and rolled back. CHIVES. Eight hair-like threads. Tips crested, and just within the blossom.
