The influence of high protein diet is not evident in birds. A discussion of the essential pathology can be based upon the accompanying table. In making a diagnosis care was used to exclude mild swelling of the gland seen in acute infectious disease and under conditions of sexual activity. The gross diagnosis was checked by microscopical section, and all but a very few have been reëxamined for the purpose of making the table.
