"They are not even fit for cleaning floors," Gregrill said. He suddenly
smiled. "Do you not see the change I have made?" He gestured at his
head.
Through tear-blinded eyes, she saw his glossy waves of hair. The
antennae were gone!
"It hurt only a little," he said. "I could not wait until I had them
off. I have been ashamed of them for so long."
Lord, who was this person she had married? _She didn't know him!_
"I see that you are still upset," he said. "Please understand that
these Venusians must be kept in their place."
It was some stranger. She couldn't be married to him. She couldn't!
"I wonder if I look like an Earthling now," he said. "Tell me, do you
think that I look a little like your father and his friends?"
She answered him wearily, defeatedly: "Yes, Greg. You do. Exactly."
