DICKINSON, William. b. London 1746; d. Paris 1823. Mezzotint
and stipple. Awarded premium Society
of Arts 1767. For some time partner
with Thomas Watson as printseller.
TOWNLEY, Charles. b. London 1746. Mezzotint and stipple,
also miniature painter. Worked at
Berlin 1786-92, then returned to
London.
RYDER, Thomas. b. 1746; d. 1810. Stipple. His son
(Pupil of Basire.) Thomas also engraved.
WALKER, James. b. 1748; d. London 1808. Mezzotint. In
(Pupil of Val. Green.) 1784 went to St. Petersburg, became
engraver to Empress of Russia, and
returned to England in 1802.
MURPHY, John. b. Ireland 1748; d after 1820. Mezzotint
and stipple.
*GAUGAIN, Thomas. b. Abbeville 1748; d. beginning 19th
(Pupil of Houston.) century. Stipple. Came very young to
London.
