Leaves linear to linear-lanceolate, up to 5 in. long and ½ in. broad,
the lower often hastate at the base, serrulate, scabrid. Flowers
solitary, axillary. Epicalyx of 7-10 linear bracts a little shorter than
the calyx. Fruits depressed, pentagonal, bristly.
