A table of contents was added by the transcriber. Punctuation and spelling were made consistent when a predominant preference was found in this book; otherwise they were not changed. Simple typographical errors were corrected. Many missing periods, and a few missing commas, were silently added where extra spacing indicated they should have been printed. Ambiguous hyphens at the ends of lines were retained.
