Havasupai, 731, is a Walapai word from _havesu_, "down in," and _pai_, "people," with ref. to residence in the bottom of the cañon. Ewing in the Great Divide, Dec., 1892, p. 203, says it is from _ahah_, "water," _visua_, "green," and _pai_, with ref. to verdure of the place where these Indians live.
