Served as a model to sundry writers after the Restoration as
Dorset, Sedley. His letters and poems were considered by the
critics of his own day as models of grace, but were marred by
affectation. His style was greatly admired by Pope and Boileau.

Many of the Volkslieder have been translated in single poems in
