Bible. Gospels -- Harmonies, English
14 Later he appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and
he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they
did not believe those who had seen him after he had risen.
LK 24:36-49
36 As they were saying this, Jesus himself stood among them and
said to them, "Peace be with you." 37 But they were startled and
frightened, and supposed that they saw a spirit. 38 And he said to
them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your hearts? 39
See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Handle me and see, for a
spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have." 40 When he had
said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they
still did not believe for joy, and marveled, he said to them, "Have you
anything here to eat?" 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and
he took it and ate in their presence.
44 Then he said to them, "These are my words which I spoke to
you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in
the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled." 45
Then he opened their minds, so they could understand the Scriptures. 46
And he said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer
and rise again from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance and
forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations,
beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And
behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city,
until you are clothed with power from on high."
JN 20:19-25
19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the
doors being shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus
came and stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you." 20
When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the
disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 Jesus said to them
again, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I also send you."
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them,
"Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are
forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained."
24 Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with
them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, "We have seen
the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the print of
the nails, and put my finger in the mark of the nails, and put my hand
in his side, I will not believe."
