27 After this he went out, and saw a tax collector, named Levi,
sitting at the tax office; and he said to him, "Follow me." 28 And he
left everything, rose up and followed him. 29 Then Levi made him a
great feast in his house; and there were a great number of tax
collectors and others sitting at table with them. 30 And the Pharisees
and their scribes complained against his disciples, saying, "Why do you
eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?" 31 And Jesus answered
them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who
are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to
repentance."
20.30 Jesus answers Objections as to his not Fasting
MT 9:14-17
14 Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, "Why do we and
the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?" 15 And Jesus said
to them, "Can the guests of the bridegroom mourn as long as he is with
them? The days will come, when the bridegroom will be taken away from
them, and then they will fast. 16 No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth
on an old garment, for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the
tear is made worse. 17 Neither do they put new wine into old wineskins;
if they do, the skins burst, and the wine is spilled, and the skins are
ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and so both are
preserved."
MK 2:18-22
18 Now John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. And
people came and said to him, "Why do John's disciples and the disciples
of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?" 19 And Jesus
said to them, "Can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with
them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.
20 But the days will come, when the bridegroom will be taken away from
them, and then they will fast in that day.
21 "No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; if
he does, the new piece will pull away from the old, and the tear is
made worse. 22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; if he does,
the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost and the wineskins
are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins."
