1 When he had finished all his sayings in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum. 2 A centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die. 3 When he heard of Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and heal his servant. 4 And when they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying, "He is worthy to have you do this for him, 5 for he loves our nation, and has built us our synagogue." 6 And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, "Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. 7 Therefore I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. 8 For I am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." 9 When Jesus heard this, he marveled at him, and turned and said to the crowd that followed him, "I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel." 10 And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant well. 28.10 Jesus Charges the Twelve Apostles and Sends Them Forth MT 9:35-11:1 35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." 10 1 And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every sickness. 2 The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. 5 These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them: "Do not go among the Gentiles, or enter any town of the Samaritans. 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And preach as you go, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' 8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. 9 Take no gold, nor silver, nor copper in your belts, 10 nor bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor a staff; for the worker is worthy of his food. 11 Now whatever village or town you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and stay there until you go out. 12 As you enter the house, give it your greeting. 13 And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it is not worthy,
