Flowers grow in whorls, at the tops of the branches, close to the stem, at the insertion of the leaves, horizontally, and rather in a spike. Blossom club-shaped, an inch long, a little curved, smooth, and of a scarlet colour. The segments of the border are spread out, very large, and a little turned back. Leaves mostly in sixes, linear, smooth, harsh, sharp-pointed, spreading, and a little curved. Stem shrubby, upright.
