                     | took possession of the Maldiva
                     | islands, and the island of Ceylon.

                     | Alburquerque.

                     |  1510, Jaquez Signeira entered
  Emperor Charles V. | the island of Sumatra. Alburquerque
                     | took Goa by surprise.
